In conjunction with If Shadows Could Shine

In this virtual workshop led by Dan Jian, each participant will create a landscape drawing using colored paper and watercolor through the process of cut-outs. First, participants will identify an image motif, then recreate a color palette of "stickers," and finally, use scissors, exacto knives, and glue to create a personal and introspective landscape and storytelling.

Suggested supply list from the artist:
• drawing pencils or colored pencils
• Scissors
• Glue stick
• Cutting mat
• craft paper [ *** recommendation from artist *** a set of Earth Tones and supplement with colorful magazine tear-outs, construction paper or origami paper. ]
• Exacto Knife and replacement blades [***recommendation from artist *** one can choose to get a cutting mat/precision knife as a kit [LINK] ]
• Surfaces: The cut-out drawing will glue on one sheet of 9 by 12 card stock, thick watercolor paper, and matboard.

 
Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Dan Jian is an assistant professor at TCU while maintaining her studio practice on drawing.
