A creative, collaborative event that brings together Ethiopian girl skaters, artists, and community members for a day of movement, making, and storytelling. Part hangout, part zine-making session, the event centers the voices and experiences of young women on wheels … told by them, for them.The gathering features live photo documentation, collage and drawing stations, and a communal table for creating the zine. Participants are invited to contribute artwork, writing, or images that reflect their lives, friendships, and radical presence in public space. No experience is needed … just energy, imagination, and a willingness to show up.

This is more than a workshop: it’s a living, breathing extension of the exhibition. Contributions will form a collective zine that captures the spirit, struggles, and joy of a movement in motion … preserving the day as both an archive and a manifesto.

Ethiopian Girls Skate is Ethiopia’s first female skateboarding collective, empowering young women through skateboarding, building community, confidence, and visibility while challenging societal norms in Addis Ababa.
