This is a special public event co-hosted with the Shimizu Research Laboratory of Tokyo University of the Art, Graduate School of Global Arts, Department of Arts Studies and Curatorial Practices. We will welcome Tomoko Shimizu, a professor at the Graduate School of Global Arts, and Ginga Kondo, an art historian and artist, as guests. Together with the curator and exhibiting artists, the discussion will critically examine feminist art and its representation of contemporary Japanese society. Topics include: what is the feminist art in contemporary Japan, its acceptance/rejection in society since the 1990s, challenges it faces, educational issues, and the importance of incorporating queer perspectives alongside feminism.

「フェミニズムアートと現代日本社会」は、東京藝術大学大学院国際芸術創造研究科アートプロデュース専攻清水研究室と共催での一般公開特別トークイベントです。東京藝術大学大学院国際芸術創造研究科教授の清水知子氏、美術史家でアーティストの近藤銀河氏をゲストに迎え、本展キュレーター、出展作家を交え、「フェミニズムアートと現代日本社会」を中心テーマにディスカッションを行います。現代日本社会を表象するフェミニズムアートとはどういったものなのか、特に90年代以降フェミニズムアートがどう社会に受け入れられ/または排除されてきたのか、フェミニストアートが抱える課題や教育面での問題、フェミニズムだけでなくクィアの視点の必要性など、様々な角度から現代社会におけるフェミニズムアートを批判的に検証していきます。

Professor at Graduate School of Global Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, specializing in media and cultural theory. She holds a MA from the University of Birmingham and a Ph.D. from the University of Tsukuba. Previously, she was an associate professor at the University of Yamanashi and the University of Tsukuba and a visiting fellow at Harvard University and Free University of Berlin. Her books include Culture and Violence: The Unravelling Union Jack (2013) and Disney and Animals: Breaking the Spell of Magic Kingdom (2021). She has co-translated works by Judith Butler, Antonio Negri, and David Lyon.

東京藝術大学大学院国際芸術創造研究科教授。専門は文化理論、メディア文化論。英国バーミンガム大学大学院MA（社会学・カルチュラル・スタディーズ）修了、筑波大学大学院博士課程文芸・言語研究科修了、博士（文学）。山梨大学助教授、筑波大学人文社会系准教授、米国ハーバード大学ライシャワー日本研究所客員研究員（フルブライト研究員2010−2011）、独ベルリン自由大学客員研究員（2018-2019）を経て現職。著書に『文化と暴力―揺曳するユニオンジャック』（月曜社）、『ディズニーと動物―王国の魔法をとく』（筑摩選書）、共訳書にジュディス・バトラー、アントニオ・ネグリ、デイヴィッド・ライアンの書籍など。


Born in Japan. She is an artist, writer, researcher, pansexual, and wheelchair user.

She researches and exhibits her work mainly on the relationship between female homosexuality and art. Her work uses 3D printers, computer graphics, and VR to interrogate the relationship between minorities and history. As a writer, she has contributed numerous articles on subcultures from feminist and queer perspectives to magazines and web media. She is co-author of We Are Already Together: The Anti-Trans Discrimination Booklet (Gendai Shokan, 2023). She published a book, Feminist Playing the Game in 2024.

アーティスト、美術史家、パンセクシュアル。中学の頃にME/CFSという病気を発症、以降車いすで生活。主に現代から見てレズビアン的と見える西洋美術の研究するかたわら、ゲームエンジンやCGを用いセクシュアリティをテーマにした作品を発表する。

ライターとして雑誌「現代思想」「SFマガジン」「文藝」、書籍『『シン・エヴァンゲリオン』を読み解く』『われらはすでに共にある─反トランス差別ブックレット』『SF作家はこう考える』など寄稿多数。単著に『フェミニスト、ゲームやってる』。


Born in Tokyo, Japan. She graduated from Scripps College in 1982, and received Ph.D from Kingston University, London in 2015. She explores the themes of cultural memory and the role of women in the Asia-Pacific War, as both aggressors and victims. She uses printmaking, video, performance, research and archiving for her expression.

士号を取得。嶋田は、文化的記憶やアジア太平洋戦争における女性の役割を加害、被害両方の視点をテーマに作品を制作している。版画、映像、パフォーマンス、リサーチやアーカイブの幅広い表現通してテーマの探求を行う。


Born in Tokyo, Japan. Yamamoto explores Japan's sociopolitical landscape, reflecting feminist and postcolonial perspectives. Her works critically examine Japan's nuclear power history and systemic sexual violence in the postwar period, and offer reinterpretations of anime and manga culture through feminist and queer lenses.

東京都生まれ。日本の社会政治的状況を探求し、フェミニズムおよびポストコロニアリズムの視点を反映させた作品を制作している。彼女の作品は、日本の原子力史や戦後の制度的性暴力を批判的に考察し、またアニメやマンガ文化をフェミニズムおよびクィアの視点から再解釈する試みを行っている。


Born in Hyogo Prefecture, Myoji earned a B.F.A. in Oil Painting from Tokyo University of the Arts (2019) and has been pursuing a Master’s there since 2022. Drawing from personal experiences especially her childhood memories, Myoji creates installations exploring the female body, gender, and identity, questioning how society shapes these constructs. Her work examines how culture and community influence self-definition and the distortions caused by gender　identity frameworks.

兵庫県生まれ、2019年に東京藝術大学美術学部絵画科油画専攻を卒業、2019年、東京藝

術大学大学院美術研究科絵画専攻油画に入学。幼少期の記憶をはじめとする自身の経験をもとに、女性の身体、ジェンダー、アイデンティティを探求するインスタレーション作品を制作。文化やコミュニティが自己の定義に与える影響、そしてジェンダー・アイデンティティの枠組みが引き起こす歪みに着目し、社会がこれらのアイデンティティをめぐる概念をどのように形成するのかを表現を通じて問いかける。
