Join us on March 27 6-8pm for the opening of 'The uterus is also a fist' including the 7:30 pm performance of 'I am Unfolding,' a live work by Brazilian artist and curator Renata Freitas, whose practice examines femininity and challenges cultural narratives surrounding the female body. In this performance, Freitas transfers the sculpture-turned-mantle onto another person, allowing the body to physically receive the weight, structure, and layered dimensions that echo the social burdens placed on women. Through this gesture, she invites the audience to reflect on how form, materiality, and embodiment reveal the complexities and multidimensionality of female existence. The performance will last approximately 15 minutes.

Renata Freitas is a Brazilian visual artist and curator with a PhD in Communication and Semiotics. Her work explores the formation of femininity and critically engages with cultural representations of the female body.
