Exhibition Activation: Treadling Journeys

Performance - Oakland

Saturday, October 30, 2021, 1:00 pm

In conjunction with Ctrl+Alt+Yellow

Elders from the AAPI community are invited to share their stories and songs with artist Taro Hattori at his installation in Ctrl+Alt+Yellow.

We invite elders from the local AAPI community to join Taro Hattori to activate his installation Treadling a Lost Journey. The program is from 1pm to 3pm PDT, and we are scheduling people in up to groups of three every fifteen minutes.

Treadling a Lost Journey is an interactive kinetic installation consisting of two treadle sewing machines, sound, and video. Through this meditation on what has been lost and remembered, each participant's contribution will be recorded and integrated into the installation during the exhibition run. Sign up for 15-minute time slots here.

Taro Hattori is sculptor and installation artist who creates environments where viewers are faced with a conflicting issue, questions to ponder, and an experience with which to grapple. He received his MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his BA in Clinical Psychology from Sophia University. He is currently teaching at California College of the Arts.
