In conjunction with Silence Is Still Our Best Chance
Join us for a performance of its own kind, in which contemporary dancer Šárka Benedová (CZ/NO) will create a movement work based on her research into stillness of the body and stillness of the city, developed for the gallery space. The choreography is an ongoing research and a reflection on inner dance, anchored in focused quietness and the effort and effortlessness of conscious movement at the smallest scale. The performance functions as a live extension of the artist’s installation, Quiet Circle. She will be accompanied by musician and sound artist Atul Giri (IND/NO), who will add reflective layers of ambient music, silence, and occasional narration. Together, the performance highlights a shared language of stillness and silence.
Šárka Benedová is a dancer and saxophonist based in Oslo, originally from the Czech Republic. Working at the intersection of sound and movement, she creates individual as well as collaborative works that range from stage to site-specific and public spaces and have been presented across Europe and Scandinavia.
Atul Giri is an Oslo based Indian sound and music artist. Through ambient music, field recording, sound art, and spatial audio installations, he creates works that invite deep listening and reflection. His practice explores remote sound environments, silence, place, memory, and a myriad of human conditions.
