Stella Brennan is an artist whose work examines technology, obsolescence and utopianism. Recent projects include a video examining the 1979 Erebus Disaster in which an Air New Zealand sightseeing plane crashed into the Antarctic mountain. White Wall/Black Hole was shown in the 2006 Sydney Biennale. Wet Social Sculpture, an installation featuring whale songs, psychedelic film, and a fully operational spa pool was selected as a finalist in the 2006 Walters Prize, New Zealand's most prestigious art award. Stella is co-founder of Aotearoa Digital Arts, New Zealand's only discussion list dedicated to New Media Art. She is deputy chair of the Artspace Aotearoa board of Trustees. She teaches at AUT University. |
