Join a creative protest outside the Massachusetts State House against the Judge Rotenberg Center and its use of the GED skin shock device.
Participants are invited to join a creative protest outside the Massachusetts State House. The Judge Rotenberg Center (JRC), located in Canton, Massachusetts, uses remote-controlled devices to deliver painful electric shocks to disabled children as a form of behavioral conditioning. Activists are urging lawmakers to support MA Bill 180 and Andre’s Law, bills that would ban the use of aversive practices that cause physical pain. The protest is a sobering reminder that the exhibit does not reflect memories from a bygone era, but is grounded in present-day atrocities.
Organizers of the Stop the Shock Protest are a coalition of individuals and groups including: Alliance Against Seclusion and Restraint, Autism National Committee, Autistic Self Advocacy Network, Autistic OT, Baystate Learning Center, Humans Make Art, ICAPA, ICARS, Justice for our Angels, Massachusetts Advocates Standing Strong, OccupyJRC, UnSilenced, 11:11 Media Impact
