Lillian Barongo Ayieng'a was born and raised in Kenya. She studied BA and MA (Fine Arts) at the Department of Fine Art and Design, Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya. Lillian is currently teaching art subjects at Multimedia and Rongo University, Kenya. She is also a practicing ceramic artist who enjoys working with clay and has done a comprehensive investigation on glaze formulation using Kenyan rocks and soils, resulting to a book entitled Natural glazes of the Great Rift Valley. She is a member of International Society for Ceramic Art Education Exchange (ISCAEE) which provides an international platform for education and cultural exchange through exhibitions, conferences and symposiums. Lillian is also a beneficiary of the creative entrepreneurship program by the GoDown Art Centre, Nairobi, and is actively involved in mentoring other ceramic artists in her country.
