In the scope of Apricots from Damascus, an apexart Franchise Exhibition in collaboration with SALT, the organizers and editors of the project will discuss the production and concept of their zines, along with their representation in the exhibition.

The panel discussion will be held in English with simultaneous translation to Turkish and Arabic.

Apricots from Damascus is a publication and exhibition project about art in a state of mobility and exile, with a specific focus on İstanbul and current artist communities. Artists and designers create print-on-demand zines to guide newly-exiled artist communities through thinking about cultural integration as it relates to place and people alike. The zines are distributed publicly from November 2015 through February 2016, and an exhibition documenting the project opens at SALT Galata, is on view through February 21, 2016. The exhibition gathers the artists and writers who have been approached to each edit an issue of the zine, along with accompanying artworks or references. The hope is that by integrating the exhibition into the active areas of the building, exiled or settled artists in Istanbul can find spaces to commune together.
