| Rendered Cities Curator Talk Saturday, January 20, 2018, 4:00 - 5:30 pm 291 Church Street, NYC For the past two years, ANGL Collective have been working collaboratively among themselves and together with different artists to artistically research the effects of architectural renderings on the urban environment. In their talk, they will address and open up questions that have emerged in their research using examples of past projects as well as the current exhibition. The talk will include screenings of Pyramid Schemes (2018) by Lawrence Lek and the award-winning short animated film Construction Lines (2017) by Max Colson. |

ANGL is a curatorial collaboration based in London comprised of Luís Manuel Araújo, Brenda Guesnet, and Giulia Pistone. Active as a collective since December 2015, they curate exhibitions and pursue independent research in the fields of architecture, public space, and technology. Recent projects include Urban Methodologies (London, 2016), a live installation by Joonhong Min presented at RIBA; Supporting Act (Edinburgh, 2016), with Baha Görkem Yalim and Petter Yxell for Edinburgh Art Festival; and the exhibition A Place For You To Dream (London, 2017), with artists Max Colson, Katy Connor, Felicity Hammond, and Laura Yuile at Republic Gallery, a temporary project space inside an office block. apexart’s program supporters past and present include the National Endowment for the Arts, Milton and Sally Avery Arts Foundation, the Kettering Family Foundation, the Buhl Foundation, The Martin and Rebecca Eisenberg Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, Spencer Brownstone, the Kenneth A. Cowin Foundation, Epstein Teicher Philanthropies, The Greenwich Collection Ltd., William Talbott Hillman Foundation/Affirmation Arts Fund, the Fifth Floor Foundation, the Consulate General of Israel in New York, The Puffin Foundation, the Trust for Mutual Understanding, The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, and public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, public funds from Creative Engagement, supported by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Governor and administered by LMCC, funds from NYSCA Electronic Media/Film in Partnership with Wave Farm: Media Arts Assistance Fund, with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, as well as the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature. |
