Annamari Ahonen (b.1975) grew up in a small village in the Finnish countryside and is now residing in Helsinki, Finland. She considers herself a poet working in visual theater, puppet theater, installation, and physical theater.

With meticulous consideration to the subliminal power of materials and objects, she works to find the voices of people, creatures, and affairs that are deliberately silenced or otherwise imperceptible in public and private realms. Collaborating with artists from various fields of art, her performances are often multidisciplinary and seek to expand the concepts of both puppets and theater.

Annamari has a MA in Philosophy and Finnish Literature and has also studied in the Department of Puppet Theatre in Turku Arts Academy. Since 2007, she has worked in visual theater as a director, actor, writer, and puppet-maker. She also teaches children and adults.
