スザンヌ・ホーディスもこの戦争のアメリカの側とかかわりがあるアーティストです。ホーディスは原子爆弾の設計と組み立てに協力した主な科学者のひとり、ヘンリー・リンシツの妻でした。原爆による甚大な破壊に動揺したホーディスとリンシツは共に戦後、熱心な反核活動家となり、Artists For SurvivalやUnited Campuses Against Nuclear Warなどの団体を設立しました。ホーディスの積極行動主義は作品にも現れています。

ホーディスの別の作品は冷戦時の軍拡競争を参照しています。そのリトグラフ作品《Three Minutes
to Midnight》(深夜0時まであと3分)は聖書に登場する知恵の実を、世界終末時計という、人災による世界の破滅までのカウントダウンを視覚化したものに置き換えています。画面上では深夜0時、つまり私たちが知っているこの世界が終わる時まで、あと3分しか残されていません。この作品は1984年に制作されたもので、米国とソ連との間で核をめぐる緊張が高まり、多くの人を世界の終わりが近いという恐怖に陥れていたことを反映しています。なお現在、世界終末時計は深夜0時まであと100秒です。
