Alicia
Chillida is a freelance curator based in Madrid, Spain.
For twelve years (during two different periods) she held the
position of Head of Contemporary Exhibitions/Curator at the Museo
Nacional Centro de Arte Renia Sofia. In 2002 she was the Curator
of the Spanish Pavillion at Sao Paulo Biennale and coordinated
a curatorial project "The Light that Failed" - a painting exhibition
and flamenco concert - which was staged at the Frans Hals Museum
in Haarlem, Holland. She is currently working on several international
projects - one of which is a group show in Spring of 2003 at
a new cultural center in Spain called La Casa Encendida.
On November 15, 2002, Ms. Chillida organized a free dialogue at
apexart to discuss the overlapping roles of artist, writer, curator
and the intersections between museums, galleries, and independent
spaces (pictured at right).
Ms. Chillida was recommended to apexart's fellowship program by
Carlos Basualdo, a past apexart International Director. |
