Nicholas Calvin M. is a photographer/filmmaker based at Nafasi Art Space, a contemporary art center in the city of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Prior to Nafasi Arts Space he worked briefly for two local museums. He studied heritage management at the University of Dar es Salaam which opened doors to explore issues pertaining to local history and culture. This background, combined with his interest in issues of identity, representation, and power of narrative - especially historical narrative, forms the basis of his appreciation of the power stories have in connecting us to ideas, places and people and thereby informing our perspective of the world. He currently lives and works in Dar es Salaam.
