Kelly
Warman was born in London, UK in 1979, she currently lives
and works in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Before completing her MFA at
the Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam, Kelly graduated with a BA (Hons)
from Dartington College of Arts, Dartington and a diploma from Chelsea
College of Art, London, UK. Kelly's formation is related to a larger
understanding of a culture that evolves around self-performance, she
is particularly interested in the translation of the interior monologue
into the cinematic space. Warman's work investigates the idea of a
commodity-person through staged performance and cinematic video works.
Notably she has shown her work in the Vienna Biennale, Vienna (2008) Boijmans Museum, Rotterdam (2008) Stadische Kunsthalle Lothringer13, Munich, (2007); The Berlin Art Fair, Berlin (2006), TENT., Rotterdam (2006); Nehru Centre, London (2005) and Catalyst Arts, Belfast (2001). She has won the Gemeente Rotterdam Kunst & Cultuur Stipendium, Rotterdam (2008) and has been a recipient of the prestigious Huygens Scholarship, NUFFIC, The Netherlands (2006). Her work has been featured in Suddeutsche Zeitung and Metropolis M. Recent publications include OMSKBOOK (London: OmskBook Publishing, 2007) and Black Friday: Exercises in Hermetics (Frankfurt: Revolver Books Publishing, 2006). She has also curated exhibitions such as The Rise Now Fall at Dek-22 project space, Rotterdam (2009); Le Societas! at De Veemvloer, Amsterdam (2008); and DADADA at Bravo!, Rotterdam (2007). In addition she as programmed the Keep On Keeping On film program and reading (2008) Black Friday lecture and film program (2006).
