apexart :: Public Program :: Coding the Body

PUBLIC PROGRAM
In conjunction with the exhibition Coding the Body organized by Leah Buechley.

OnebyOne

Saturday, May 3: 4 pm
apexart, 291 Church St, NYC

Created and performed by Eva Perrotta and Corinne Cappelletti
Music Composer: Reba Hasko

A live cartographic performance that maps the pathways of the self through a symbiotic relationship. Unfurling the meaning of support, the performers acknowledge the embodied histories that lay dormant - uplifting imprinted archetypes in the psyche, bones, cells - and update past codes of behavior into the present, seeking to understand the nature of growth by accumulating and then shedding layers of experience, like a tree peels away bark or a snake sheds skin.

CORINNE CAPPELLETTI holds an MFA from the University of Utah in Modern Dance for which she devised a model for place-identity through choreography and improvisation. Her durational, social experiments The New Pedestrian (France, 2011) and Carry your Burdens (NYC 2011) enliven streets, homes and public spaces. Corinne's interactive performance work has been presented in New York City at St. Mark’s Church/Danspace, Dance New Amsterdam, National Arts Club Director’s loft, Governor’s Island FIGMENT, Dixon Place, and Playground ET Modern Gallery. She works at the LABAN Institute, in New York City, where she teaches and manages the Education Programs.
