The work is an embodied response to encoded visual and aural symbol systems. It was developed out of improvisations on Laban Motif Notation Scores.



FREDERICK CURRY is Assistant Professor in the Dance Department at Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts.  In New York, he danced with Zendora Dance Company and Rod Rodgers Dance Company, among others, and performed leading roles in productions of The Vengeance of Mami Wata by Rose-Marie Guiraud, and Owl in Love by composer Jon Deak.  Frederick's choreography has been presented at the American Dance Guild Performance Festival, La MaMa, Merkin Concert Hall, Mosaic, The Bridge, and Dance Space Center in New York.  He has been a U.S. State Department Culture Connect Envoy to Uganda and is on faculty at the LABAN Institute and at DEL / 92nd Street Y.  Previously he taught in the Dance Education Program at NYU.
