Join Inbound Resident Loa Bascuñán (Santiago, Chile) as she talks with Juanita Lanzo (Longwood Gallery, Bronx) about her New York scavenger hunt and her "ravenous appetite" for the city she's come to know over the past month.

Loa Bascuñán was born in Madrid, Spain in 1979, and grew up in Chile where she currently lives and works. After studying photography in school, Bascuñan began writing and working with and for artists, dedicating her time to cultural affairs management. She has worked with "Caja Negra" (Black Box), a collective of Chilean artists that has been operating for more than 25 years, and Chile’s National Fine Arts Museum as project coordinator there for Museo Sin Muros (Museum Without Walls). She is currently working with Lastarria 90, a cultural center in Chile, to create new funding opportunities for young visual artists. In this project, the artists are given the opportunity to showcase their art, which is financially sponsored by the center. Through this program, new talented emerging artists will have the chance to enter the Chilean art circuit.

Juanita Lanzo is a New York based visual artist and curator, born and raised in Puerto Rico, currently living and working in New York City. In 2005 she joined the Bronx Council on the Arts as Program Coordinator for Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos, and was appointed Director and Curator in 2008. Her focus has been on artists of color working on issues of race, gender and identity, post-colonial and migration effects, street and popular culture and the body. Ms. Lanzo holds a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from University of Puerto Rico (1996) and a Master Degree in Fine Arts from the City University of New York’s City College (2005).
